Beautiful hotel – lovely stay ( Guest from Wicklow)
Had a fabulous stay at the Abbey Hotel with my 6 year old son. He had a ball. The pool is fabulous and what I really loved was that they gave us hats (most places make you buy them) and goggles which we had forgotten to bring. The food in the bar was delicious and the staff were all so nice. OUr room was gorgeous and I couldn’t fault a thing. Would highly recommend this hotel
3 days conference at Abbey Hotel Roscommon Town
We organized a 3 days conference in the Abbey Hotel / Roscommon Town. Not only the conference was a huge success itself, the Hotel was purely amazing. The staff is friendly as can be, the bedrooms are amazing and the restaurant is a dream come true. We will be back for sure for our next conference, as this Venue is purely amazing! Visiting from the states for a family reunion, the Abbey proved the perfect venue for our group of 20-plus. Comfortable rooms, well-appointed lounge (and well-stocked bar), and the friendly, personable service you would expect from a B&B but rare for an event hotel. Even rarer, the food for our group dinner rated among the best meals we had in Ireland. Everyone raved about their entrees and the generously heaped shared dishes. Highly recommend for anyone traveling through the Irish midlands.

We stayed at the Abbey a good few times over the years , in fact we got married there in 1995, last night we stayed and it was exceptional this time around , the hotel has new decor , new restaurant menu , our room was 100% lovely temperature, wide screen telly , comfy bed and the Guinness was so good I could have drank it all night long but stayed until the bar closed ,
breakfast was top notch this morning and have to give the hotel 10/10

A very nice hotel with great rooms and superb food. But all is made unforgettable by really nice and friendly staff and great service!
The food in the pub/restaurant is just outstanding and delicious.
Also, how many hotels got the ruins of an 13th century Dominican Friary on its grounds? Visit it before sunset and dinner, some nice carvings and interesting features.
The hotel is just a short walk from the town centre- so very ideal for visiting the town of Roscommon too.

Fantastic location, very private in mature parkland surrounded by trees. Ample secure parking and easy accessible from the main road. No noise and very quiet and peaceful in the evenings. Great food and drink

I’ve been to a lot of hotels, and I would have to say that my stay at the Abbey was possibly the most pleasant experience ever. From the moment we came in the door to the moment we left, it was perfection all the way. The staff are really helpful and friendly and this made our 24 hours there all the better. The whole place is spotless and the layout is very good. Jenny was impressed with the paintings and our walk along the corridor was enhanced by the large collection on the walls. We dined in the restaurant and the service and food were first class. My tiered burger took a while to get through! The buffet breakfast was also delicious with varied choices of everything. All in all a lovely overall experience for a very reasonable price and I believe Jenny now wants to live there.

We enjoyed two nights here while traveling through Ireland. The hotel was beautiful, the food was delicious. Everyone was pleasant. We really enjoyed the pool and leisure area and the equestrian decor. We also used the laundry services and our clothes were returned fresh and in perfect condition.

My friend was wanting to stay in a castle while on holiday but as they are pretty expensive we found it wasn’t an option. When searching I came across The Abbey Hotel, and while it’s really an old abbey, it looks like a wee castle and was totally within our budget. We stayed one night on our way from the west to east coast, having spent the day at the Cliffs of Moher. It’s in the lovely little town of Roscommon and right in front of the ruins of an old abbey, which makes for a great view from the room. The “newer” rooms are attached to the older building and are clean, could use a bit of paint touch ups, and have much needed air-conditioning, as we arrived to a drought and heatwave. The older section with restaurant and bar was nicely decorated and the staff was lovely and helpful. We had a great dinner and made use of the onsite hot tub and pool. For the money you can not beat staying here.
Could not fault hotel, beautiful grounds and entrance. Fabulous lobby, restaurant and bar. Very modern. Wonderful buffet breakfast. Friendly staff and very helpful. i enjoyed the pool and garden with my 5 year old twins. The pool staff were fab, great touch that they loaned swim hats and arm bands instead of buying, As this can get costly. Thank you Abbey for a wonderful stay

Just home from a lovely 2 night break at the Abbey.2 adults and 2 children (4,6)We had a lovely family room with a double and 2 singles.Breakfast both mornings was great.Lots of variety and very attentive service.We had tea and scones one evening in the bar and they were delicious.We had great fun in the pool which we used both days.Its very clean and was never too busy.Receptionists were always very friendly especially one lady (short blond hair and glasses).We really enjoyed our stay and will be back over the Summer.

What a lovely place in the centre of roscommon town but so peaceful you would think you were miles away from it. The staff are amazing and so welcoming, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the food was just to die for. The grounds are very nice too and the leisure centre was also an added bonus. Ill be staying here again for sure. Highly recommend

Have stayed at the Abbey five times now and have enjoyed it every time we stayed very professional staff who are friendly and helpful.The food is excellent and rooms are very large and comfortable,can’t wait for next trip to Ireland will definitely stay at the Abbey if anywhere Roscommon.

Really comfortable hotel and very friendly staff. The rooms are not all the same, but the they are all very nicely decorated, with a bit of ‘old world’ meeting ‘new world’. Leisure facilities are good and the location is fantastic. Lots to see and do around this great county.

I had a great stay at the Abbey Hotel. The hotel is beautifully decorated, has great history and the service was good by the staff. My room was comfortable, the shower was excellent and the bed very comfortable. As a visitor to Ireland, it was great to have a church ruin close by to go and visit. The food was good, beer was cold and the restaurant had a good ambiance. I will definitely go back.

To say that it was everything we hoped it would be is wrong as it far surpassed those hopes and dreams. The service was just incredible, the food absolutely delicious and the Ball Room was like something out of a fairy tale. The staff from the Front Desk to the waiters to Management, were so pleasant and friendly but also professional. I cannot recommend your Hotel highly enough for anyone in need of a Wedding Reception venue. All of our guests had a thoroughly enjoyable day. I stayed in the Abbey Hotel last week after my car broke down in Roscommon town late one evening. As all the garages were closed for the night I had no choice but to find accommodation in Roscommon town. I rang the Abbey Hotel after 8:30pm looking for a room and the receptionist was very accommodating. I was told that there would be a room ready for me when I would arrive even though it was at very short notice. When I arrived at the hotel the management & staff were very helpful and extremely understanding of my situation. The bar in the hotel had finished serving food when I arrived just after 9pm but when the bar staff heard my story they immediately said they would get some food ready for me (which was delicious!). The management & staff made sure I had everything I needed and even recommended a garage for me to bring my car to to get it fixed the next morning. Overall I was very impressed with the service I received at the hotel and with the fantastic staff there. The management & staff went above and beyond the call of duty to help me and to turn what could have been a very challenging and stressful situation into a more calm and straight forward one with a great nights stay at a fantastic hotel! We stayed at the Abbey for two nights as a family. The hotel is decorated in old world luxury style without being ostentatious. All staff we encountered were friendly and efficient. Our room was bright and airy and there was welcome chocolate bars on the kids beds which was a nice touch. The shower was powerful and had plenty of hot water. There was a loose towel rail fitting but this was not big deal. The swimming pool was great. We dined in the bar on both nights and the food each time was exceptional. From steak to chicken fajitas to the desserts,everything was delicious and the staff were great. Breakfast was again very good. I would have no problem staying at this hotel again.

We had a christening in the abbey hotel for roughly around 60 people sitting for dinner…we came here from the meath/cavan border as I had dined out before and fell in love with it….so I knew with all the people travelling a good enough distance I had to impress and the abbey did that and more!!! First of all nothing was a problem not one thing from warming bottles for me making sure we were comfortable to greeting us at the door custom made menus the service was 2nd to none…the food was piping hot and as much as we could eat with a selection of each course that was fantastic and extremely reasonable. The staff are fantastic and the manager was so attentive and there always ensuring we had a lovely day..I cannot rate this hotel highly enough I will definitely be bringing future occasions here. Great room with ample facilities (even Sky Sports in the room!). The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The breakfasts were more than ample and gave a great choice even for picky eaters. We ate a couple of times in the bar area and again the food was great and reasonably priced – I would recommend the chicken curry. The gym area/pool were of a better quality than most hotels offered and were used on more than one occasion”.

We’ve been regular visitors to the Abbey hotel for many years and our experience is always first class. The hotel is located on the edge of town and is just a short walk to the shops in the centre of town. This family hotel is in a lovely setting with a treelined drive leading up to the main entrance. The grounds are well maintained with seating outside when the sun shines!
The ladies on reception are always very pleasant and extremely helpful.
Elaine usually organises our visits and is always available to answer any queries prior to our arrival.
It is a busy hotel with constant events such as weddings, christening and all kinds of celebrations catered for, but it never affects the service and attention to other guests which is very impressive. There is always a family presence overseeing everything which ensures a smoothly running hotel.
The bar meals are always lovely as is the breakfast experience. If you have any particular requests they are always very obliging. Service is very efficient and always with a smile from the staff. The food served in the main dining room at night is always excellent and I would definitely recommend it. There is a carvery at lunch time with an excellent choice of high quality food. The bedrooms are very comfortable with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space for your clothes particularly if you are there for a few days or longer.
The hotel is located just on the outskirts of the town and is just a short walk to all the shops in the centre of town. Overall our visits are always pleasant and memorable and we wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else in Roscommon.

All the way from Louisiana USA – “This is a great little gem in the middle of Ireland! ”We ended up in Roscommon in our tour of Ireland and found this wonderful Gem! We were four in our group, we got two rooms. Very good rates, included breakfast which was a traditional Irish breakfast and if there was something they didn’t have out, they graciously got it for us! This is apparently a location that caters to weddings, as the grounds and outdoor areas appear to accommodate such. Our rooms were warm and welcoming, very clean, and the staff were friendly. We had drinks and dinner in the bar, which was delicious. Do not miss a walk through of the original Abbey in the rear of the location!!!! “This hotel is truly a 5 star experience. Probably one of very few hotels in Ireland you can say this about now a days. The whole hotel is spotless. All staff are so pleasant and you can clearly see they enjoy there jobs. The food was outstanding probably the best meal I’ve ever ate in a hotel in years!! no joking. Truly a hidden gem of Roscommon. I stayed here for one night for a family wedding and it was unbelievable the service the hotel everything was top class. Keep up the amazing standards. “We stayed here for three nights in September 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The hotel is next to a ruined Abbey and the Hotel itself is an old very interesting building. The room and ensuite were both spacious and very comfortable and very clean. The staff on the desk were all very helpful and polite and friendly. The breakfast was fantastic. There was always a good choice and the food delicious. Some mornings it was a choice of cold items like cereals, fruit, yoghurts, breads, fruit juice etc etc, then a hot buffet of bacon, sausage, black and white pudding, potato, tomato, eggs then toast. All perfectly cooked. Another morning it was the cold buffet then we ordered from a menu and I had a mushroom omelette which was amazing. I could not fault this hotel at all and will definitely return when we are next in Roscommon. I’m only sorry we didn’t have time to visit the leisure centre and have a swim. We went to see the pool and it looked so inviting. Next time!”

Beautiful hotel, beautiful building , amazing staff. Thomas the bar tender looked after me like an patient in the A&E. Brilliant lad. Highly recommended. Restaurant served beautiful food. Ample car park.
Best Weekend Away!
So, myself and two other mums decided that we needed a weekend away. One of us found the Abbey Hotel, and we booked it straight away. I have to tell you, it was fantastic. Normally a triple room consists of 1 double bed and 1 single, requiring two people to share. Our room had 2 singles and 1 double, which was great, as I have a spinal condition and can’t turn over, I have to roll. Spacious bathroom, beautiful decor, comfy beds. We ate in the Bar and the food was absolutely gorgeous too. But, best of all, the staff seemed to be happy working there. It showed. Can’t wait to go back
Excellent Lunch!
We stopped for lunch at the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon. It is a carvery lunch where you are served cafeteria style and then take your tray to a table in a lounge room off of the bar. The entree included two vegetables and both mashed and toasted potatoes. We both had the salmon and it was all excellent. Our cousin had the half portion of pork and it was excellent too. Excellency from Sligo was visiting the hotel for a lunch meeting and everyone was a twitter! That was just a bonus to the wonderful lunch.
Fantastic customer Service
My mother and I stopped off for a light lunch, I had not been in the hotel for some time and when I got married almost 20 years ago this is where we had our reception. Whilst paying for lunch I mentioned this in conversation to a charming and friendly gentleman who was on the till. He did not charge for our tea or coffee and very kindly offered them on the house. What a lovely gesture and thank you Adrian. The Abbey is a so tastefully decorated and the staff are so friendly. Thomas K
Amazing place to stay loved it
I booked this as a surprise for my Daughter so she could stay in a Castle. We were amazed from the time we drove up the drive way into the car park until the time we left. We stayed in a family room,our room and bathroom was huge, the bed was super king size, the mattress was so comfortable.even had a bottle opener on the tiled wall in the bathroom.The room was spotless just like everywhere in the Hotel.The food was delicious every day, from the breakfast to the dinner,(now I know why they got so many awards)…We all had a ball even though it was raining heavy most of our stay it didn’t bother us because we had the pool and beautiful surroundings, like the abbey ruins that are on the grounds,making a beautiful view from the dinning room/restaurant.Could not fault anything at all, I would highly recommend this as a get away from it all break. “I stayed here in late June 2016 for two nights. It is a historic property and it is beautifully maintained. My room was large, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Many delicious choices. There was no extra charge for parking which was nice. The cost was very fair considering all that was included, and how nice it all was. They had a fitness center with a pool and hot tub, which I used. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. I have recommended this hotel to others and would definitely stay there again. It is close by car to Strokestown and Tulsk”.

As storm Emma descended upon the country and brought Ireland to a standstill, who knew what lay ahead for us on our wedding day. As anxiety and worry set in and the rollercoaster of emotions began, a comforting phonecall from our wedding co-ordinator Lisa finally brought the tears to a front. Tears of relief on this occasion as the Abbey hotel understood what we must be going through. Lisa and the Grealy family offered compassion, reassurance, help and assistance in order to make things as easy as possible for us and the situation we were in. Let’s not forget that a red weather warning was in place and people were advised to stay indoors and not to leave their homes due to the snow. This however did not stop the Abbey Hotel and their staff showing up to work to prepare and present what can only be described as the first class service we received on our wedding day. The food on the day was superb and more than lived up to the reputation we had heard so often about. We are still receiving compliments to that regard. From the minute we walked through the door to organise our wedding, to the moment we left, the hospitality and professionalism of Lisa, the Grealy family and their staff shone through. Where to start, we cannot say enough good things about the Abbey. This is mostly down to Lisa the wedding coordinator. She was an absolute pleasure to talk to and discuss things with. She’s a woman that knows her job inside out. Nothing is a problem to Lisa. The meal was simply fabulous, efficient, hot, fresh and there was no shortage of seconds. Even some guests complimented how nice the cup of tea was. The ballroom and the Abbey itself looked fabulous. The Greally family were on hand to welcome us and delighted to see the horse and carriage. The staff were brilliant especially the bar staff, again no delays getting served. So many guests commented on the ‘homely’ feel of the hotel with its character and fabulous grounds & gardens. We would like to say a huge thank you to the Grealy family, wedding co-ordinator Lisa Mulally and all the staff at the Abbey Hotel for a truly amazing day. The ballroom looked beautiful and everywhere was immaculate. Adrian & Lisa were so professional and ensured everything ran smoothly on the day – the timing of the food, speeches, music, tea /coffee & cake etc. From the first day we choose the Abbey Hotel Roscommon as our wedding venue they were so accommodating and nothing was a problem. We can’t thank you enough and would most definitely recommend The Abbey Hotel to any future couples.

If you are looking for a hotel for your weddimg definitely book the abbey; Lisa who is the wedding co ordinator and the Grealy family who run the hotel really went above and beyond to make sure our day went off without a hitch. The food was amazing. They really cant do enough for you and from the moment we booked the hotel to our wedding day they made everything easy and put our minds at ease from the start. The service was prompt and professional and had all our guests complimenting from start to finish. They really made a great day brilliant and we cant thank them enough.

We had our wedding which was a civil ceremony in the Abbey hotel last Thursday 28th December. .Anything I say about the Abbey hotel would not do it justice. It was fantastic from start to finish. .Lisa the wedding co-ordinator is an amazing person, brilliant at her job & Tom the owner is gentleman. .Nothing we asked for was ever too much hassle,from the very start always at hand to assist in any way..The day itself the suite for the ceremony was beautifully decorated and the hotel really emphasised the Christmas feel..The meal was absolutely fantastic,our guests kept praising it.Staff were so helpful and were excellent in particular Luke at tending to the young children and making sure they had all they wanted. .I would recommend any couple thinking of getting married to really consider Abbey hotel. Hi Lisa, Myself and David and my family cannot thank you and all the staff at the Abbey for hosting our New Years Eve wedding. Everyone was very helpful and friendly throughout the planning and on the day itself. The food was amazing and there was seconds which kept all the guests happy!! When we arrived to the hotel everything looked lovely; yourself and Dooleys flowers had the hallway and the ballroom looking lovely. We were very impressed. I had lots of ideas and you took the time to make all these happen on the day. Once again, myself and David would like to say a huge thank you to all at the Abbey and hope to visit again soon. We got married on the 22nd December 2017 in the Abbey Hotel, I cannot recommend this venue enough, the service was outstanding from beginning to end, our guests all talked about how beautiful the hotel looks and how amazing the food was on arrival and the meal was delicious it was so efficient,hot and there was plenty of seconds even though people were not able for them. Lisa was our wedding coordinator, she is fantastic at her job, she was absolutely brilliant in the lead up to our wedding and on the day itself. She made the planning of our special day so easy, nothing was any hassle, any questions we had were answered promptly by email or phone. She was extremely helpful and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Also in the lead up to the wedding the reception team and Elaine in reservations was always on hand and there to help. The waiting team was outstanding, the attention that we were given was second to none. We would like to thank Lisa,Tom and the Grealy family and all team at the Abbey Hotel for the beautiful wedding memories we will have forever. We would highly recommend the Abbey Hotel.

We held our wedding reception in The Abbey Hotel in Roscommon on Saturday the 28th October and we had the most wonderful day of our lives. The Grealy Family and all the staff in the hotel were absolutely brilliant. Our guests were full of praise for the meal – it was served piping hot and the food as usual in The Abbey Hotel was fabulous. Our guests were so complimentary all day of everything to do with the hotel. There was a wonderful atmosphere all day and all the staff were so obliging to our guests. In the run up to the wedding The Grealy Family and Lisa the wedding coordinator were so helpful and that took so much pressure off us and allowed us to really relax and enjoy the day as we knew that they had every situation covered. We had our wedding in the Abbey 17th November 2017
To say it was a dream would be an understatement. From the moment we booked the abbey lisa and the team made sure all our needs were met . Upon arrival the night before my famply and I were made feel so welcome . The Grealy family have made the abbey a wonderful home from home …it truly is a hidden gem it also boasts a picturesque abbey ruins to the rear of the hotel which adds to its charm . From top of house to housekeeping staff service is impeccable and no job seemed like a big ask ..
The fortfield suite was perfect for our civil ceremony And Lisa made sure we were all at ease and got everyone where they nended to be .
We cannot find fault with the abbey all of our guests thoroughly enjoyed their stay .. food and service is fab
Definitely the Abbey is a perfect setting for weddings especially winter weddings as the ambience in the bar area with candles and fires lit .. no detail was left out we will be forever grateful to the Grealy family Lisa Mulally and all the staff at the Abbey Hotel Roscommon. We can’t recommend the Abbey Hotel enough for a wedding … They really know what they’re at! It is a beautiful cosy hotel that can still cater for a big number (such as our wedding). The food was excellent, the ball room looked amazing and they we’re incredibly efficient. Lisa and the team were also very helpful in setting up different pieces for the day … Sweet table, guestbook and the flowers for the tables. We had a fantastic day and I would have no hesitation in advising friends and family to choose the Abbey hotel for their big day.

So my Husband and I gor married on the Abbey hotel on may 20th this year it was the most amazing day that we ever had the service was 100% we got all the help needed and also they made sure all our guest were all feeling special. The ball room is the most beautiful that i have ever seen and they have also the most amazing views for pictures inside and outside the hotel. I recommend the Abbey 100%

We had our wedding at the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon on 06th October.
We chose the Abbey Hotel because it is a building with great charactor, because of its reputation for great food and because it has only one large function room guaranteeing one wedding per day.
The Abbey Hotel and in particular Lisa, the wedding coordinator, could not have been more helpful in the weeks leading up to our big day. They listened to us and took all we said on board while giving us ideas and guidance about how our day would go.
The food was incredible! All of our guests raved about the meal. The groom himself is ceoliac and the Abbey made sure that he missed out on nothing. Canepes and evening finger food was specifically prepared for him and our other guests with dietry requirements.
The function room looked beautiful for our day. Lisa placed all our personal touches perfectly around the room and even if our guests didn’t notice, we certainly did.

We had our wedding in the Abbey on the 29th of April 2017. I can’t praise the staff and owners enough. From the minute we contacted the hotel for a viewing they made us feel very welcome. Everyone in the hotel is extremely helpful and friendly. They were always available to answer any questions we had, they could recommend bands, photographers etc and would always work around out schedule if we needed to meet. The week before the wedding Geraldine and Lisa were on the phone for any queries I had. They even designed a separate menu for my aunt (she has special dietary requirements)- the day before the wedding. The day of the wedding was completely flawless and that is thanks to everyone in the Abbey. The food, service and drink was out of this world. We didn’t have to worry about anything on the day of the wedding thanks to everyone in the hotel. Even the morning after the wedding, Tom (the owner) went and carried down my uncles breakfast, (my unlce is in his 70’s), got him the paper and sat beside him discussing the weather. The best decision we ever made was to have our wedding in the Abbey. I am proud to say I am an Abbey Bride. I wholeheartedly recommend the Abbey Hotel for ANY award it has been nominated for.

Damian and I got married in the Abbey Hotel on the 1st of July, the venue was outstanding and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful especially our wedding coordinator Lisa. The ballroom was impeccably decorated and the honeymoon suite was amazing it was a truly wonderful wedding experience and we highly recommend it to couples in search of the perfect venue for the wedding of there dreams. We got married in September and cannot praise the Abbey Hotel highly enough as a fantastic wedding venue.
My husband and I live in Sydney and so had the difficult task of organising the wedding from there but the Abbey staff were very responsive on email and phone and helped us assist any of our guests special requirements.
All of my guests from abroad as well as local, loved the venue. It has such character and we got some truly amazing photographs with beautiful scenery and backdrops.
The food was top quality and remarked on by lots of guests and the order of events went very smoothly. It was all so well organised that we could relax and enjoy the day with zero stress. The package was very reasonably priced in comparison to some other hotels.
We were 100% happy with our choice of venue and would highly recommend it to any future brides and grooms.

Where shall I start… The Abbey Hotel is amazing, our wedding was magical. I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights prior to the wedding and I was so well looked after, the staff were fantastic and very welcoming. The morning of our wedding was what I can only describe as perfect, so relaxed and once again there was lots of fun and laughter with staff and the Grealy family. We had a lot of guests arriving from Dublin, Meath and the USA and they were all made feel so welcome, each guest received top quality service. Our wedding reception was what every girl dreams of, the food was exquisite and the layout was 5 Star. The hotel grounds are stunning, such a treat for photographers! From start to finish it was professional and the wedding coordinator Lisa was brilliant, we can’t thank her enough.
