DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss your chance to catch a young band at the forefront of new Irish trad music in a series of special concerts for young audiences. \nFast becoming a festival favourite around the world\, MOXIE are garnering a reputation for their highly charged live performances\, brimming with youthful vitality. With a traditional music that flows from banjos\, guitar\, accordion\, keyboard and percussion\, their sound is shaped by Ireland’s untamed West Coast. This trad music mixes with other musical influences from folk\, rock and new age bluegrass\, giving the band a truly distinctive sound. \nMOXIE come to The Ark hot on the heels of their performances as the band in Prodijig\, The Revolution at The Cork Opera House which received rave reviews and 3 weeks of sold out shows. In August 2014 they released their debut album Planted to critical acclaim. \nMOXIE are: Cillian Doheny (tenor banjo/guitar)\, Jos Kelly (button accordion/keyboard)\, Darren Roche (button accordion)\, Ted Kelly (tenor banjo) and Paddy Hazelton (percussion).

DESCRIPTION:Have a go at playing traditional music on one of a range of instruments at these fun drop-in sessions for beginners. \nSuitable for beginners or newcomers to Irish music\, each participant will enjoy a short 15 minute introduction to playing one traditional instrument and complete a simple musical task on that instrument. SUMMARY:Children's Open Trad Session 2017 - The Ark
DESCRIPTION:If you’re aged 6+ and play an instrument\, this is your chance to come and play in a real trad session! \nDrop in to our open trad seisiún\, especially for children\, led by members of Ceoltóirí Chluain Tarbh\, a long established and highly active Irish music organisation. Children who can play a tune on the fiddle\, bodhrán\, harp\, concertina\, or any instrument at all (including non-traditional instruments) are welcome to come along and find out what it is like to play in a trad session with other young musicians.  \nRecommended for children who have been learning music for one year or more. Children wishing to participate must bring their own instruments. Families are invited to come\, listen and enjoy!

DESCRIPTION:Try your hand at a variety of fun traditional crafts using different natural materials at this year’s Tradfest Children’s Crafts Club for Ages 4+. \nCraftspeople of the past and present have found inspiration in the plants\, animals and landscapes of the Irish woodlands. They explore the forests\, foraging for natural materials to make beautiful crafts. This year the Tradfest Crafts club follows in their footsteps and looks to the woods for inspiration. Come and try your hand at some of these natural crafts in our drop in sessions led by three exciting craft artists.\nPresented in partnership with the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland as part of TradFest Temple Bar 2017
