DESCRIPTION:Chris de Burgh will perform two of his most outstanding recordings\, and some other favourites\, on his Classic Albums Tour which comes to Bord Gais Energy Theatre on 13 October 2019. \n“One is my most successful album in terms of sales\, and the other is one I particularly enjoyed the writing and recording of\, Chris explains. \nThe first is his 1986 release\, ‘Into The Light’\, which Chris had shrewdly envisaged could be the record that might place him fully centre stage as an international artist – and so it proved\, thanks to one song in particular:  ‘The Lady In Red’.  It was the composition which finally established him as a known singer-songwriter around the world and has since become an undeniable evergreen classic. \nIt achieved No. 1 status in 47 countries\, including the UK\, reached No.2 in America and has now sold in excess of 8 million copies.  To this day\, it remains one of the most played songs on the planet; in America alone\, it has been the recipient of six annual ASCAP (Association of Composers and Publishers) Awards\, presented to acknowledge it as among the Top 20 most played records in the United States in a period of 12 months. \nThe second album is ‘Moonfleet & Other Stories’\, from 2010\, which took Chris on the most ambitious\, demanding and evocative journey of his long career which\, by then\, had resulted in albums sales approaching 50 million worldwide. \n“I gave myself the biggest challenge in writing and recording that album\,” Chris estimates.  “It was very difficult but\, ultimately\, great\, great fun to have done that.” \nIt’s entirely appropriate to call ‘Moonfleet & Others Stories’ a tour de force\, not merely since it comprises 20 original elements (including the writing of an orchestral overture by Chris)\, but because it’s a fully-rounded and realised musical suite based on the book\, by English novelist J. It took a team of 50 – including engineers\, fabricators\, skin makers\, artists painters\, and animatronic experts – a year to build the production. The history of the world is played out with the splitting of the earth’s continents\, and the transition from the arid desert of the Triassic period is given over to the lush green prairies and forces of the later Jurassic. Oceans form\, volcanoes erupt\, a forest catches fire — all leading to the impact of the massive comet\, which struck the earth\, and forced the extinction of the dinosaurs. \nThe show originated in Australia\, where after years of planning\, WALKING WITH DINOSAURS – THE ARENA SPECTACULAR came to life at Sydney’s Acer Arena in January 2007. Michaela has worked extensively as a presenter on the BBC\, spending fifteen years presenting the hugely popular The Really Wild Show and ten years on Countryfile\, as well as Orangutan Diaries\, Elephant Diaries\, Shark Encounters and Orangutan Rescue. \nMichaela’s Wild Challenge (Channel 5) was a double BAFTA award-winning production; earning Michaela the BAFTA for Best Children’s Presenter and the programme the BAFTA for Best Children’s Factual. DESCRIPTION:First performed in Paris in 1840\, GISELLE is universally considered the world’s most romantic ballets. \nThe story revolves around a peasant girl\, Giselle\, who dies of a broken heart after discovering that her lover is betrothed to another. \nHer cause is taken up by The Willis\, a group of mystic and supernatural spirits of maiden girls\, who obtain revenge by literally dancing men to death. Led by Myrtha\, The Queen if the Willis\, they are ruthless and hateful of men because they have all themselves died of a broken heart. \nQueen Myrtha summons Giselle from her grave and they target Giselle’s lover for death\, but Giselle’s great love eventually frees him from their grasp. \nThe Tchaikovsky Perm State Ballet’s traditional production\, sympathetically accompanied by the wonderful RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra to Adolphe Adam’s original score\, will leave a lasting impression. \nThis is one of the truly great ballets!
