Tayto Park celebrates three years of the Cú Chulainn Coaster
This June, Tayto Park, Ireland’s only theme park and zoo will celebrate three years of the Cú Chulainn Coaster, Europe’s largest wooden rollercoaster with an inversion.
Located in Ashbourne, Co. Meath the Cú Chulainn Coaster opened on June 5th 2015, with thrill seekers from the USA, UAE and all over Europe travelling far and wide to ride the Cú Chulainn Coaster. Of the 1,455,151 riders on the wooden speed train to date, the oldest rider was a 93 year-old man. Reaching up to speeds of 100Kmh the Cú Chulainn Coaster boasts a 1,082m track length and with a drop zone of 31 meters. Over 800,000kgs of yellow pine wood used, more than 100 tonnes of steel and over 700,000 nails and bolts were used in the construction of the coaster.
