Tayto Park new babies
Tayto Park welcomes new animal babies and LOVE YOUR ZOO Week returns from 27th May 4th June.
Ahead of ‘Love Your Zoo’ (27th May- 4th June) week, Tayto Park is excited to announce the arrival of three new babies in Ashbourne, Co. Meath!
Last month, rangers in Tayto Park welcomed two Tayra pups. Native to the Americas, Tayra are an omnivorous animal from the weasel family and are renowned for being difficult to breed in captivity, adding to the delight of the staff.
During April, the team also welcomed a very fluffy addition to the fields a white Highland Calf! Highland cattle are a Scottish breed with distinctive long horns and wavy coats. Their coats are usually ginger but the new addition at Tayto Park has a gorgeous furry white coat!
To celebrate Love Your Zoo week, Tayto Park will be hosting an array of exciting activities from 27th May – 4th June. Check the timetables online to meet the Tayto Park rangers and learn all there is to know about big cats, birds of prey and small carnivores before making butterfly feeders and helping the rangers to make animal enrichment.
Love Your Zoo week is an annual campaign established by BIAZA (Britain and Irelands association of zoos and aquariums) to promote the organisation and educate the public on zoos, aquariums and wildlife centres. Along with being a member of BIAZA, Tayto Park is also a member of EAZA (The European Association of Zoos and Aquaria) (EAZA) which is a membership organization of the leading zoos and aquariums in Europe and the Middle East. EAZAs mission is to facilitate cooperation within the European Zoo and Aquarium toward goals of education, research, and conservation.
