The Lark Panto Review 2025
Popped along to another fab Christmas Panto on Sunday last, this time at the Lark Theatre in Balbriggan.
The Irish Institute of Music & Song and Sean Gilligan Present Jack and The Beanstalk, starring Fair City’s George McMahon as ‘Dan the Man’ and a host of other circuit names to bring this family favourite to life. A beautiful theatre and with a super wide seating area allows all seats to get really great views of the stage.
The costumes are really splendid, and the action is non stop as a host of energetic characters take to the stage to deliver what is simply a hugely entertaining performance with singing, dancing and gags, all delivered with impeccable timing and choreography.
The lead characters are very strong, with super performances by Ruari Nicholl as Jack, Grace Nolan as the female lead Jill , Jenny McGrath as the Baroness baddie, Katie Taylor as Moo the Cow and finally Terence Christie as Glammy – the outrageous ‘Panto dame’. Keep an eye up high too for Emma Doran as ‘Fairy Nuff’, guiding our heroes and overseeing the antics on stage. There’s a couple of slap tick references to Fair City’s George in there too which just adds to the laughs!
Children will know this story well but the wonders of Panto allow some additional twists and turns to be included. How will they make a large Beanstalk grow on stage?? If the kids in the audience during our show were anything to go by, then your gang are gonna love this show!
The Giant, the Goose that lays the golden eggs, the Beanstalk and the villagers all make appearance and there’s lots more! Trending songs and daily cultural references add to the entertainment – it’s so much fun!
Well worth the visit to support local theatre and Irish talent! You’ll come away feeling festive and energised! Book your tickets now!!
