The Lark Panto Review – Cinderella 2024
We were delighted last week to attend Cinderella at The Lark Theatre Balbriggan. Produced by the Irish Institute Of Music and the multi award winning Sean Gilligan, this year’s seasonal Panto was a triumph and is just super fun for the whole family.
It’s a beautiful theatre at the Lark and an ideal venue for this family favourite Panto. The theatre design has gentle sloping seats and a low stage offering excellent viewing all round. This year, it’s another stellar cast including Dancing with the Stars Winner Jake Carter, social media comedian Al Foran as the virtual ‘Spirit of Good’ and introducing rising musical theatre star Grace Nolan as Cinderella.
Annaliesa Evans is wonderful as Lady DeVille, Cinderella’s devious step mother. Conspiring with Dandini played by Terence Christi, they hope to upset the romance between Cinderella and Prince Liam and take all the riches and kingdom for themselves! Enter a host of characters who create mayhem all the way to the ball. The Panto funnies are an absolute blast, with outrageous performances by David Gilna as ‘Glammy’ and Corrina O’Brien as ‘Whammy’. It’s worth the visit just for these two!! 🙂
There’s lots of characters in this show who all add their own little magic to bring you a thoroughly entertaining Panto. It’s full of laughs and there are tons of references to everything we know in there, from Politics to RTE, to Trump! Energetic dance sequences, great costumes and wonderful sets make this a really enjoyable spectacle. Tap your feet to your favourite song numbers and who knows, you might even be tempted to get up from your seat for an audience dance off!
