Barge Trips on Grand Canal offer a real treat for families and groups with the opportunity to cruise along Ireland’s famous inland waterways.

Beginning from the inland harbour village of Sallins, the skippered traditional canal cruises through beautiful Kildare countryside stir so many stories to life. Cruising for just an hour or two on the Grand Canal, you’ll travel through 250 years of history: through locks, bridges and aqueduct. While ducks and swans swim, and kingfishers and dragonflies dart, you can relax with a drink while you glide through time.

Barge trips take place aboard a traditional authentic restored canal barge licensed for 12 passengers with cruises available from March to October each year. There are outdoor seats on the open decks at the bow and stern and it has a very comfortable interior with ample seating, toilet facilities, wood burning stove and a bar serving delicious local craft beers and more! 

Sallins is a food village with Gastro Pub, Fine Dining and Café options all on the waterfront!

A barge trip is fun for all ages. Small children will be given a life-jacket on boarding and children must be supervised at all times by a parent/guardian.

Leinster Aqueduct Cruise
