Lough Key Forest Park is situated in Roscommon just off the main N4 Dublin to Sligo road, the Lough Key Forest Park is an outdoor haven of over 800 acres of parkland and lakes.

Lough Key Experience

The visitor centre overlooking the lake of Lough Key acts as a gateway to unique attractions and activities. Allow yourself to be taken back in time on the ‘Lough Key Experience’ as you are guided through the old 19th century servant tunnels that once belonged to Rockingham House. You will be blown away by the views from the refurbished Moylurg Viewing Tower and experience Irelands only Tree Canopy Walk as it gently rises above the forest floor. This is a self-guided tour which allows you to get lost in time and a tour that can be enjoyed at your own pace. The Lough Key Experience is fully wheelchair accessible and buggy/pram accessible.

Tree Canopy Walk

 

This 300m long creation of timber and steel gently rises 9m above the woodland floor and offers an engaging ‘birds eye’ view of nature as it meanders through the treetops offering panoramic views of the shimmering island studded lake. This is a self guided tour so therefore there is no time limit on your journey through time. The beauty of this is that you can spend as much or little time as you want on this magical journey.

Adventure Play Kingdom

Watch the younger children discover a magical land of stimulating and innovative play equipment in the Adventure Play Kingdom.  The outdoor Adventure Play Kingdom is a dynamic, colourful and safe environment that will keep children of all ages entertained for hours. It has climbing frames, magical slides a mini zip wire and all on a safe sponge floor.

 

The outdoor Adventure Play Kingdom is an enclosed and stimulating play area with towers, slides, climbing frames, roundabouts, swings, puzzles and other innovative play equipment suitable for a variety of ages and abilities.

Cycling and Walking Trails

Walking Trails in Lough Key suit walkers of all abilities. There is approximately 8 Kilometres of traffic free cycling trails in the park. Lough Key is perfectly suited to families with kids bikes, bikes with child seats or tag-a-longs.

 

Group Days Out

There are numerous packages available offering teams and groups a different day out experience. For corporate, Private meetings and lunches are available as well as activities such as the unique Boda Borg where your group has to work in a team.  These also make Lough Key Forest Park ideal for Stag & Hen groups.  To add to the experience, the Boda Borg activity is completely weather independent!

For birthday parties, why not combine the Boda Borg Activity or the Adventure Play ground with a Party Food offering. Boda Borg

There is fun and adventure, solving challenges and conquering quests in the weather independent Boda Borg where you can spend fun filled hours experiencing the quests, a totally unique activity to Ireland, suitable for adults and children over 7 years! To survive the Quests you will need to employ many different skills you may not even be aware you have, teamwork, ingenuity, trial and error! Solving one challenge opens the door to the next, and another blast of curiosity, laughter and excitement. The only requirement is a minimum of 3 people per team & maximum 5. Pre-Booking recommended!!

The Lakeside Café

The Lakeside Café provides a beautiful vista over Lough Key where you can enjoy gourmet Fair-trade Coffee & Tea with some sweet delights & savoury snacks overlooking the magical Castle Island. All food is locally sourced and cooked on site. All of this can also be enjoyed on our outdoor deck!

Caravan and Campsite

Accommodation can be found in the refurbished Caravan and Campsite on the grounds of Lough Key or self-catering and hotel accommodation nearby. There is also a 50 berth Marina on site with electric and Shower Facilities.

Other Activities located in the Park

If all that is not enough, you can attempt an obstacle course up in the Trees with Zipit Forest Adventures. Hire a rowing boat or take the tour boat around the islands of Lough Key with Lough Key Boat Tours. Another fun and unique way of enjoying the 350 hectares of woodland forest is by Segway and the younger kids can unleash their adventurous streak by driving their own mini jeep across a specially designed trail with woodland Segway and Safari. And you could even hire an ordinary or electric bike with Electric Bike Trails.
