Natural History Museum Dublin is located in Merrion Square Dublin 2, beside government buildings. Affectionately known by Irish people as the “dead zoo”, the museum offers a superb display of natural life exhibits from all areas in Ireland.

Visitors can explore rich and diverse plant and animal life from the Irish countryside and coastlines, exotic animals from around the world and also some of the larger historic animals that once lived in Ireland. Children will love the life size exhibits and will be in awe at the large suspended skeletons of whales, life size lions and tigers and so much more!.

First opened in 1897, the museum contains over 10,000 exhibits that have thrilled generations of visitors over the past century!. The Natural History Museum is truly one of the top family days out in Dublin with areas of interest for all ages. A regular programme of events provides fascinating insight and educational opportunities for school and families. The allows visitors to handle taxidermy and bones. The , at first floor level, offers a more sedate experience.

• Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm
• Monday and Sunday 1pm- 5pm

Free Admission:
Admission to all four sites of the National Museum of Ireland is free.

Please note – only the ground floor is wheelchair accessible.
