Decorative Arts and History Museum Dublin is located in Collins Barracks, across the River Liffey from the Guinness Storehouse.

The museum features exhibits from Ireland’s past and covers the two main themes –

• Decorative Arts exploring clothing, garments, furniture, jewellery and ceramics and
• Military History, exploring equipment, supplies, combat dress and dedicated exhibits covering the 1916 Easter Rising.

,  an exciting new exhibition opening 3rd March 2016 will explore the ideas, movements and personalities of early 20th century Ireland, the dramatic events of Easter Week 1916, the impact it had on the city and its citizens, and the Irish nation as a whole.

exhibition displays stylish clothing and jewellery worn in Ireland principally from the 1760’s to the 1960’s. This is an eye-opening look at Irish fashion through the ages, showing how new clothing technology and European influences affected what people wore.

The is one of the largest in the world and this exhibition traces the development of the silversmith’s craft from the early 17th Century to the present day.

Opening hours at the Decorative Arts and History Museum Dublin are:

• Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm
• Monday and Sunday 1pm- 5pm

Free Admission
Admission to all four sites of the National Museum of Ireland is free.

The Museum shop and café are open during Museum opening times, with extended opening for the café from 12pm on Sundays.

Please note the café at the Decorative Arts and History Museum Dublin is open on Mondays, when the Museum itself is closed.
