There’s lot to do and see in the Drogheda area. Situated on the East coast of Ireland, Drogheda began as an industrial and port town and while the port still exists today, Drogheda town itself has become a vibrant centre of retail. The Scotch Hall Shopping Centre is situated in the same complex as the hotel, there’s also the St Lawrence town centre a short walk away, as well as many smaller boutiques dotted throughout the town.

Drogheda lies in an area rich in archaeological monuments dating from the Neolithic period onwards. Over 5000 years of history is on your doorstep, with local places of interest that simply cannot be missed like ‘Bru Na Boinne’ and Newgrange – a stone age Neolithic passage tomb and temple monument in Co Meath, famous for how it is internally illuminated by the rising sun on mornings around the winter solstice.

This monument is surrounded by almost 100 ancient kerbstones, many carrying examples of early megalithic art. Built in the Year 3200BC, the site is older that Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids at Giza and has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Drogheda town and surrounding hinterland are key features of – an offical tourism designated touring region stretching from Newgrange through the Midlands and southeast to Cork.
