Tayto Park Celebrates International Tiger Day
July 29, 2015 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Tomorrow, Wednesday, 29th July, Tayto Park celebrates International Tiger Day with a host of fun family activities in Ashbourne, Co. Meath.
International Tiger Day is held annually on 29th July to give worldwide attention to the preservation and protection of tigers and their habitats.
Celebrating the two fascinating Amur tigers Kahn and Gara in Tayto Park, the tiger rangers and Tayto Park education team will host interactive presentations and family activities from 11am 4pm on Wednesday, 29th July in Cat Country.
With lots of activities like tiger themed face painting, colouring contests, tiger arts and crafts, raffles and special target training demonstrations from rangers, the whole family are bound to have a roaring good time while learning all about tigers and their habitats!
The Tayto Park tigers are female Gara (aged 15) and male Kahn (aged 11), both of whom are part of the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP). Gara is definitely the boss of the two and despite being much smaller than Kahn, he shows her a tremendous amount of respect.
Since, 2013 the Tayto Park Amur tigers have helped raise over 18,000 for the Amur Leopard and Tiger Alliance (ALTA). All further proceeds generated on International Tiger Day will go to the Amur Leopard and Tiger Alliance (ALTA).
