Barge Trips on Grand Canal

grand canal cruising

Barge Trips on Grand Canal through Dublin and Kildare offer a real treat for families and groups with the opportunity to cruise along Ireland’s famous inland waterways.

Your skipper will give you unique insight into the life and history of the Grand Canal. Barge trips take place aboard an authentic restored canal barge – the MV Amo – with cruises available from March to October each year. The barge can take groups of up to 12 people and is fully licenced by the Department of Transport & Tourism. There are outdoor seats on the open decks at the bow and stern and it has a very comfortable interior with ample seating, toilet facilities, wood burning stove and a kitchen!

Barge Trips on Grand Canal

“From the start we had a brilliant time. The whole package is a wonderful experience, great service and friendly too. The scenery along the canal is outstanding and barging is the way to see it.” Sinead – Dublin

Barge trips are hugely popular as they allow tourists and visitors to travel at a relaxing pace and take in more of the beautiful surroundings found along the length of the Grand Canal. The canal is a haven for natural wildlife and the view from the barge gives a new and fresh perspective to places and locations that many of us pass thru on a daily basis.

The maximum number of passengers is 12 and splitting the cost among your group is a great way to enjoy a unique day out at minimal cost. Please contact BargeTrip.ie to discuss your requirements.

Team Building with a difference!

Let your work team enjoy a day out with a difference by taking part in a unique team building experience. Under supervision each participant takes their turn at the tiller and pilots the barge. Participants are divided into Lock Teams for each lock encountered on the route. Using a diagram and basic written instructions, the Lock Teams have to figure out how to do it!
