Boyne Valley activities has grown from a small kayaking hobby to become one of the most popular outdoor activity companies in the North Leinster and Co. Meath area.
With many years local knowledge and a passion for their craft, the founders of Boyne Valley activities have created a number of adventurous outdoor and indoor pursuits that offer a truly superb day out experience for groups of friends, stag and hen groups and also corporate outings.
Activities are based along the Boyne River. This Boyne Valley region in Ireland is situated in North Leinster – an area or province taking in the eastern counties of Ireland including Dublin. Moving inland from Drogheda, a large and sprawling valley countrywide awaits visitors. The region is a place of immense historical significance in Ireland. With over 9,000 years of history, it encompasses places like
- Newgrange tomb (which is older than the Pyraminds!)
- Battle of the Boyne – site of the largest land battle in Ireland
- The Hill of Tara – the seat of the High Kings of Ireland
- Trim Castle – the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland
The Boyne Valley activities company are dedicated to promoting responsible tourism in the Boyne Valley region and are a renowned centre for their efforts and avocation in promoting Eco Tourism. The ‘Leave No Trace’ policy ensures that all visitors respect the area and leave it unspoilt for other visitors and future generations.
So how about a day out that could include historical tours, white water rafting, kayaking, maybe a little challenge and tons of fun? There’s a wide range of activities on offer with something for everyone and including all ages!
Whitewater rafting in Ireland
Boyne Valley activities were one of the first companies to introduce white water rafting to Ireland.
Experience a thrilling 2 hour rafting experience along the scenic Boyne river, as you navigate river weirs, water rapids and maybe even other rafts! These 8 man inflatable Rafts are hugely robust and can handle anything the mighty weirs of the Boyne can throw at them…the question is-can you! All equipment is supplied including wetsuits, buoyancy aids, and helmets for your protection. There are showers back at the Slane base (and sometimes even a nice hot whiskey) so be sure to bring along a change of clothes.
Kayaking on the River Boyne
Join the Boyne Valley activities team for a 2 hour kayaking experience along the River Boyne. There is no experience required to appreciate this fun day out experience. The helpful guides who are all canoeing Ireland qualified instructors, will introduce you to this fantastic water experience and all equipment that you require is supplied.
Enjoy amazing scenery along your trip as you meander along the beautiful river Boyne, taking in historic sites and past Medieval Castles, encounter local wildlife and immerse yourself in plenty of craic!
Mini bus back to base is included.
River Tour of Medieval Trim
The town of Trim in Co Meath was a bustling hub of activity and is the home of more Medieval buildings than any other town in Ireland. It is a place of major historical significance and saw the town built on both banks of the River Boyne at the Fjord which gave great access to the land for the traders and pilgrims that were traveling up river from all over Europe and as far away as Asia. A rich history is ready to explore and this unique river tour lets you paddling rafts down river giving you a true feeling of connection to these ancient sites. Al equipment is supplied and the tour duration is approx. 1.5hrs
Self Guided Kayaking / Canoe Trail
A superb compliment to families that might be holidaying in the area, or for groups of friends that are spending a few days together, these self guided water trails offer a really enjoyable ‘at your own pace’ water experience. No experience is necessary for this trip and Boyne Valley activities will rent you kayaks or canoes – Kayak, Paddle, Helmet and Buoyancy aid are provided. Wet suits are optional and can be rented.
Being in the heart of the Boyne Valley, visitors will pass some amazing Abbeys and Castles along the route and the scenery is second to none. With 35 kilometers of waterways to explore, this is a super stretch of water to navigate. Maps are provided offering the best routes, instructors provide safety instruction before you depart and the team keep in touch with you by text.
One way bus transfer is provided in the price, additional transfer provided at extra cost.

Feet Dry – Land Activities
High Ropes Adventure Course
For all you Bear Grylls fans out there, this is a super day out experience immersed in the forest canopy. Test your skills against a selection of interactive rope obstacles including 100mtr Zip lines, climbing walls and more. It all happens about 10mtrs up in the trees and the forest setting offers a real adventure experience.
A basic level of fitness is required to enjoy the activity but there is constant supervision and help while on the course. It’s proving to be hugely popular with group days out like stag and hens and also corporate team outings. If you can stop laughing, you might just make it through!

Archery in Co Meath
There’s archery and then there’s archery! Join the team in Trim for a tutorial and see why this sport has been enjoyed for generations. Archery is an activity that can be experience by kids age 8-10yrs and all ages upwards. Boyne Valley activities have teamed up with the Irish Academy of Archery and all instructors shoot at their indoor 18 meter shooting range, complete with full set of butts, recurve bows, super butts arrows and butt faces. All shooting is overseen by an Irish Academy instructor.
