Owls is a children’s nature charity and gets its name Outdoor, Wildlife, Learning & Survival.

Owls Childrens Nature Clubs

One of the sections of the charity is the Owls Childrens Natures Club who run a series of outdoor events and workshops throughout the year taking place in parks and natural areas around Dublin.

The events offer families with young children the opportunity to discover more about their natural heritage while having fun outdoors.  Young children share experiences that get them in tune with their natural world, whilst learning and having fun at the same time. Events run once a fortnight during the weekend and at various parks and natural areas around Dublin.  There are also visits to the Ashtown ‘Wetland Meadows’ Nature Reserve and the OWLS allotment.  During the school holidays more events are run including week-long nature camps and sleep-outs.

OWLS School Programmes

These are programmes designed for both primary and secondary schools and an OWLS Education Officer is available to visit schools to co-ordinate requirements. The “OWLS School” programme is a nature studies initiative, based on the idea of providing practical assistance to teachers who want to teach their classes about nature while offering  a fun and hands-on approach to learning.

The programme entails of a series of visits throughout the school year, starting within school and eventually moving outdoors. Activities and projects range from nature slide shows, environmental education sessions, wildlife watching, practical workshops, fun days out and conservation led tasks such as tree planting and wildlife gardening.

Survival Nature Parties

‘OWLS Survival Parties’ can now be booked for a fun day out for your children, something your child and their friends will remember for a long time.  The OWLS Survival Party is a great adventure to offer children and their friends.  They’ll have 2 hours of fun in the outdoors, having the chance to play and create for themselves under the supervision of OWLS leaders and parents.
