Who we are
Who we are
Since 2008, DayOut.ie has been firmly established as a parent favourite when searching online for family day out activities. Combined with this, our name and brand are instantly recognisable with the large volume of attractions and day out related venues situated across Ireland.
Launched in early 2008 with Rick O Shea and the 2FM Roadcaster, we succeeded in bringing accurate and up to date information and events to a wide audience, which has grown significantly year on year.
Our audience is predominantly parents – 80% of our monthly audience comes from a female parent audience (mammies!) who actively use our site to find day out ideas, to read reviews and to seek discounted day out opportunities.
What’s different about DayOut.ie?
Other web sites make lists. We make days out!
We visit venues all over Ireland and we experience their day out offering, then we write about it. Our bloggers come from the travel, tourism and leisure backgrounds. We take small groups all over Ireland on activities, we note their comments and we feed this back to the venues. We are also parents ourselves, so we know what makes a good day out for families.
High catchment domain name
The term ‘day out’ is synonymous everywhere with a good time and an enjoyable day for your group, family or friends. Our domain name is an actively used online search term or ‘high catchment domain name’. It’s so popular, that competitor web sites use it constantly for their SEO and in their Google Adwords. The more they use it, the more our ranking improves. (sssh, don’t tell them!)
Growth and new sites
In recent years we have noted a growing number of group organisers and events managers using our sites to find group related activities for corporate days out, birthday party activities and of course that old Irish favourite the Stag and Hen party!
As a result, in 2013 we launched a sister web site called just to cater for Seasonal and Party days out in Ireland.
Over the years, we have been privileged to work with many of Irelands Top visitor attractions, as well as working with many established and household names across the media industry. We are regular contributors to articles in the online environment and we have featured a number of times on TV3s Ireland AM show, bringing parents the latest news about popular attractions and upcoming events.
100% Irish owned, we are an online business and our registered office is in Co Meath, Ireland.
Our site has changed since the early days (when there was no social media!) but our walk down memory lane looks a little like this
- 2010 – FINALIST Best Tourism Web Site – IIA Net Visionary Awards
- 2009 – FINALIST Best Entertainment Site – Realex Irish Web Awards
- 2008 – FINALIST Best Irish Tourism Site – Eircom Golden Spider Awards
